Senior officials from S. Korea, Canada discuss supply chain

Senior industry officials and diplomats from South Korea and Canada held talks Wednesday, during which they discussed ways to forge cooperation in the supply chain and other issues, officials said. The talks followed the inaugural high-level economic security dialogue held in May last year, where the two countries discussed ways to strengthen their partnership in key minerals and other areas, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy said. During the talks, the officials agreed to strengthen ties in critical areas for economic security, including setting standards for key technologies, the ministry said in a statement. South Korea and Canada also agreed to maintain efforts to diversify the supply chain under the platform of the Minerals Security Partnership (MSP), in which Seoul currently holds the chairmanship. The MSP was launched in 2022 by the U.S. to strengthen the global supply of and promote investment in critical minerals, such as lithium, cobalt and nickel. Source: Yonhap News Agency
