Taipei: The Taichung City government is set to host a lively livestream party in front of City Hall on Saturday evening, providing an opportunity for baseball enthusiasts to watch the Premier12 game between Team Taiwan and Samurai Japan. The event, aimed at fans unable to attend the live match at the Taipei Dome, promises an engaging experience in a communal setting. According to Focus Taiwan, all 66,000 tickets for Team Taiwan's games against Samurai Japan on Saturday and Team Australia on Sunday have been sold out, highlighting the immense popularity of the event. In response, the Taichung City government has organized an additional livestream party for the game against Australia on Sunday. Saturday's festivities will commence at 3 p.m. and feature a variety of attractions, including a food street, live bands, cheerleader performances, and a lottery, ensuring a vibrant atmosphere for attendees. This weekend's events follow a similar gathering held on November 13 at the plaza in front of the old Taichung C ounty Council building in Fengyuan District. On the field, Chen Po-ching will take the mound for Team Taiwan, facing off against Japan's Hiroto Saiki, who has had a stellar season with the Hanshin Tigers, pitching three shutout games in the 2024 Nippon Professional Baseball season. Chen has expressed admiration for Team Taiwan's ace, Lin Yu-min, and aims to emulate his confidence. Hiroto Saiki, reflecting on his experience, likened the upcoming game to pitching at the Hanshin Koshien Stadium, known for its passionate 40,000-strong fanbase. Saiki remarked on his anticipation of quieting the Taipei Dome crowd with his performance. Adding to the tournament's excitement, Japan secured a victory against South Korea with a score of 6-3 on Friday, thereby tying with Taiwan for first place in their group, each boasting a 2-0 record.
