Taipei Couple and Son Indicted for Assaulting Indonesian Caregiver

Taipei:Prosecutors have formally charged a Taipei couple and their son for allegedly assaulting, drugging, and sexually molesting an Indonesian caregiver. The incident reportedly occurred in September following a dispute within the household.

According to Focus Taiwan, the Taiwan Taipei District Prosecutors Office filed the indictment on Tuesday, revealing that the caregiver, employed to care for the elderly mother of a man surnamed Wu and his wife, surnamed Chou, was subjected to violence after the couple expressed dissatisfaction with her work.

The indictment details that on September 6, Wu and Chou began physically assaulting the caregiver in their home. Following the beating, Wu allegedly molested the woman at knifepoint and destroyed her phone by throwing it to the ground.

Subsequently, the caregiver was forced to consume a drink laced with flunitrazepam, a sedative commonly associated with "date rape" incidents, rendering her unconscious. She was then left in the care of the couple's son.

The caregiver's disappearance was reported by friends, prompting officers from the Taipei City Police Department's Xinyi Precinct to visit Wu's residence on September 9. There, they discovered the caregiver unconscious, with visible injuries. The couple's son was arrested on the spot, while Wu and Chou were later summoned for questioning and detained.

The three suspects have been indicted on multiple charges, including deprivation of personal liberty with a deadly weapon, forcible indecency with a deadly weapon, property damage, and coercing a person to consume a Category 3 narcotic.
