Tokyo: A Taiwanese drone industry delegation attending a trade fair in Tokyo has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with a Japanese drone industry alliance, setting the stage for long-term collaboration in supply chain integration and other areas. The agreement was signed during the Japan Drone 2025 exhibition, where Taiwan is showcasing its research and development capabilities.
According to Focus Taiwan, the delegation, led by Hu Kai-hung of the Taiwan Excellence Drone International Business Opportunities Alliance (TEDIBOA), includes representatives from notable Taiwanese companies such as Aerospace Industrial Development Corp. and Coretronic Intelligent Robotics Corp. Hu signed the MOU with Yasuhiro Senda, executive vice president of Japan UAS Industry Development Association (JUIDA), aiming to enhance supply chain integration and expedite the introduction of Taiwanese drone products to the Japanese market.
TEDIBOA highlighted the complementary strengths of the two countries in the drone industry: Japan's prowess in precision machinery and automation, and Taiwan's advantages in semiconductors, cybersecurity, and manufacturing. The collaboration will focus on technology development, application implementation, and market sharing, while also addressing regulatory differences to facilitate market entry.
The Japan Drone exhibition, now in its 10th edition, has showcased diverse industrial applications, with the Japanese government investing over 100 billion yen to advance its drone industry. The TEDIBOA, established by Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs in September 2024, currently boasts around 200 members.
