Taiwan Maintains Fifth Global Ranking in Net Financial Assets Per Capita

Taipei:Taiwan secured the fifth position globally in net financial assets per capita at the end of 2025, with an average of 164,470 euros (US$186,456), as reported by Germany-based Allianz Research this week.

According to Focus Taiwan, the latest Global Wealth Report indicated that Taiwan's ranking remained the same as the previous year, following the United States, Switzerland, Denmark, and Singapore.

The report from Allianz evaluated household assets and liabilities across nearly 60 countries. It highlighted that global household wealth achieved a record high in 2025, with the rise of AI and market gains playing a significant role in asset ownership, which increasingly determines wealth distribution.

In 2025, global financial assets reached a new peak of 268.4 trillion euros, reflecting an 8.6 percent increase from the previous year. Taiwanese households experienced an 8.7 percent growth in total financial assets, amounting to 4.5 trillion euros by the end of 2025.

This growth rate was slightly lower than the 9.3 percent observed in 2024 and below the 9.8 percent average for other Asian markets, excluding Japan and China, yet it surpassed the global average of 8.6 percent. Securities in Taiwan showed the most robust growth, increasing by 17.7 percent, compared to 4.9 percent for deposits and 2.4 percent for insurance and pension funds.

Securities constituted 34.9 percent of Taiwanese household financial assets, which is above the Asian average of 30.8 percent but below the global average of 46.9 percent. Adjusted for inflation, Taiwan's financial assets grew by 6.9 percent in real terms in 2025, aligning closely with the 7 percent increase recorded in 2024.

Since 2019, Taiwan's financial assets have risen by a cumulative 41.5 percent in real terms, surpassing the Asian average of 39.6 percent and significantly exceeding the global average of 22.9 percent.
