Taiwan Secures Two Silver Medals at Tokyo Deaflympics

Tokyo: Taiwan clinched two silver medals at the 2025 Summer Deaflympics in Tokyo on Wednesday, following podium finishes for Women’s 100-meter hurdler Hsu Le and shooting duo Hsu Ming-jui and Kao Ya-ju.

According to Focus Taiwan, Hsu Le, the defending champion, made a comeback from injury to finish second to Hungary’s Nikolett Gal with a time of 14.40 seconds. Speaking after the race, Hsu expressed that although she was disappointed not to win gold, she was proud to return to the podium after a repeated strain to her left glute and thigh last year kept her out of training for six months.

Hsu Ming-jui and Kao were runners-up to India’s Abhinav Deshwal and Pranjali Dhumal in the mixed team 10-meter air pistol event. On Tuesday, Wei Yu-tze secured Taiwan’s first medal at this year’s Deaflympics, taking silver in the men’s decathlon.

Taiwan has 76 athletes competing in 11 sports at the ongoing Deaflympics, which run through Nov. 26.
