Taiwan to Reduce International Passenger Fuel Surcharges Starting July 7

Taipei: The Civil Aviation Administration (CAA) announced a reduction in passenger fuel surcharges on international flights operated by Taiwanese carriers, effective July 7, following a recent decline in aviation fuel prices.

According to Focus Taiwan, starting July 7, the passenger fuel surcharges on international flights will be reduced to US$27.5 for short-haul flights and US$71.5 for long-haul flights. This is a decrease from the current surcharges of US$35 for short-haul and US$91 for long-haul flights, as stated in a CAA news release.

Since 2005, these surcharges have been adjusted based on the latest international aviation fuel prices announced by CPC Corp., Taiwan. This latest adjustment reflects a recent decline in global oil prices, as tensions from the conflict in the Middle East have eased, thereby reducing pressure on aviation fuel costs.
