London: Taiwan's Liang En-shuo and her Japanese tennis partner Shuko Aoyama have successfully advanced to the women's doubles semifinals at Wimbledon, securing their spot with a straight-sets victory in the quarterfinals. According to Focus Taiwan, the pair achieved this milestone by defeating Australian Ellen Perez and Dutch Demi Schuurs with scores of 6-4, 6-4. This marks the second consecutive Grand Slam semifinal appearance for Liang and Aoyama since they began their partnership. Seeded 13th, Liang and Aoyama demonstrated strategic play, breaking serve at 4-4 in the opening set to gain a 5-4 lead, subsequently serving out the set at 6-4. The second set mirrored the first, as the duo once again broke serve at 4-4, capturing a decisive 5-4 lead before concluding the match. A critical element in their victory was the significantly lower number of unforced errors committed by Liang and Aoyama, totaling just six, compared to the 15 errors by Perez and Schuurs. This precision in play was instrumental in the ir success. Looking ahead, Liang and Aoyama are set to face No. 2 seeds Gabriela Dabrowski from Canada and Luisa Stefani from Brazil in the semifinals. The duo had previously reached the semifinals at the French Open in June, showcasing their growing synergy and competitive edge. The Wimbledon Championships, renowned as the third Grand Slam tournament of the year, are underway at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London, running from June 29 to July 12.
