Chiba city: An alliance formed to advance made-in-Taiwan (MIT) unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) is currently attending a three-day drone expo in Japan, according to the association on Thursday.
According to Focus Taiwan, the Taiwan Excellence Drone International Business Opportunities Alliance (TEDIBOA) has its members present at the Japan Drone expo held at Chiba City's Makuhari Messe convention center. The event, organized by the Japan UAS Industry Development Association (JUIDA), runs from Wednesday to Friday and is an important platform for promoting MIT drone products. It is attended by over 230 unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) companies from around the world.
The expo not only highlights Taiwan UAVs but also aims to strengthen the drone partnership between Taiwan and Japan. TEDIBOA emphasized the complementary nature of the two nations' drone industries, with Japan excelling in precision machinery and automatic control systems, and Taiwan having a strong foundation in chip manufacturing, cybersecurity, and system integration.
According to the alliance, the collaboration between Taiwan and Japan's drone industries began last year when TEDIBOA formed partnerships with organizations such as JUIDA and the Japan Drone Consortium. This collaboration has allowed members to benefit from Japan's expertise in developing UAVs for disaster management, rescue operations, agriculture, and logistics.
Launched by the Ministry of Economic Affairs in 2024, TEDIBOA aims to advance international business opportunities for Taiwan's drone industry. The alliance's presence at the Japan trade show includes around 20 UAV companies, led by Aerospace Industrial Development Corp., Thunder Tiger Corp., and Coretronic Intelligent Robotics Corp.
In addition to the Japan expo, TEDIBOA also took its members in the first half of 2026 to explore business opportunities in Germany and the United States.
