Taipei: The Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee (CTOC) elected Vice President Tsai Chia-fu as its new president in an uncontested vote. Tsai will succeed Lin Hong-dow, who is stepping down after a 12-year tenure leading the CTOC.
According to Focus Taiwan, the committee also appointed six new vice presidents, including Chen Mei-yen, marking the first time a woman has held the role. Additionally, 18 executive board members were chosen, reflecting a significant move toward gender diversity within the committee. Tsai will officially assume his role as president on January 1, 2026.
Tsai expressed to reporters his commitment to enhancing gender diversity, noting that nearly half of the newly elected executive board members are women. Chen, a distinguished professor at National Taiwan Normal University's Graduate Institute of Sport, Leisure, and Hospitality Management, expressed gratitude for the support and shared her focus on international matters and sports organizations.
In his remarks, Tsai mentioned his forthcoming participation in the Olympic Council of Asia next month, where he will engage in elections for president and executive committee members. Meanwhile, the CTOC is preparing for the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Italy, ensuring transportation and accommodation arrangements for Taiwanese athletes.
