Miaoli: A cram school teacher on Friday recalled her experience when she rushed to pull a child stabbed by a knife-wielding man in Miaoli to safety.
According to Focus Taiwan, the teacher, surnamed Huang, attempted to save one of her students, an 11-year-old girl surnamed Ting, who was attacked from behind and stabbed in the chest by the assailant. Huang was escorting Ting and other children from their elementary school to their cram school when the incident happened.
While waiting at an intersection, Huang noticed the attacker, identified as Chiu, in an altercation with another man. She immediately tried to direct the children away from the scene. The other man, 50-year-old Lin, was also injured, having been stabbed in the back and abdomen during the altercation.
Huang described her actions, stating that upon seeing Chiu follow them and grab Ting, she ran to intervene. Despite her efforts, Chiu managed to stab Ting before letting her go. Huang then succeeded in pulling Ting away and sought help across the street.
Ting is currently in stable condition at China Medical University Hospital’s intensive care unit, having received treatment for collapsed lungs and internal bleeding. Lin, who was admitted to Da Chien General Hospital, is also reported to be in stable condition.
