Taipei: The Taiwan Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) announced on Tuesday that it has instructed importers of two brands of chocolate sticks to adhere to a recall initiated by the Japanese food manufacturer Glico Co., Ltd.
According to Focus Taiwan, the imported products under the recall include "Pocky Winter Exclusive Chocolate Sticks," which have expiry dates in June 2026, and "Glico 8-Pack Chocolate Flavor Sticks," with expiry dates in May, June, and July 2026. The TFDA released a statement informing consumers who have purchased these products to contact the responsible company listed on the product labels for further instructions.
TFDA official Liao Tzu-ting mentioned that the recall was self-initiated by Glico due to the cocoa beans used in the products being stored with spices, which affected their flavor. On Monday, Glico announced the recall of 20 chocolate products, totaling approximately 6 million items, as reported by Japanese news media.
