PM holds bilateral talks with His Majesty the King of Brunei Darussalam and pushes for MOU on Halal and food security cooperation between the two countries. Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, Prime Minister, held bilateral discussions with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam during the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits and Related Summits. Mr. Jirayu Huangsap, spokesman of the Prime Minister's Office, summarized the important points as follows: Both parties agreed to strengthen economic cooperation, especially Thailand's Government Pension Fund (GPF) and Brunei Investment Agency (BIA), to stimulate joint investment between the two countries as soon as possible, including promoting cooperation on the elimination of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Tax Evasion and Avoidance (DTA) to prevent tax evasion. Brunei Darussalam is ready to push for the preparation of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) related to cooperation in Halal, such as food security and investm ent in the Halal food industry in the future. Both parties will facilitate trade in agricultural products and technical aspects related to sustainable agriculture and water management.
