Kaohsiung:Three suspects have been arrested, and one remains at large following a fatal dispute over drug debt in Kaohsiung. The incident resulted in one man's death and left two others seriously injured, according to local authorities.
According to Focus Taiwan, the Kaohsiung City Police Department reported that the incident occurred early Monday morning at an out-of-business health spa on Baotai Road in Fengshan District. Three friends, surnamed Lee, Lin, and Chuang, met with another group of men to discuss a drug-related debt, which led to a violent confrontation involving clubs and knives.
During the altercation, Lee sustained severe head injuries, lost consciousness, and was later pronounced dead. Lin and Chuang suffered multiple injuries and were taken to a local hospital for treatment. Police investigations using surveillance footage led to the identification of four suspects, who were seen fleeing the scene in a vehicle. Three have been apprehended, while one suspect remains at large.
The incident is believed to have originated from a disagreement over drug debts. Further details from local media suggest that the group of attackers included two brothers, surnamed Tung, who were upset over pressure to repay a drug debt of around NT$10,000 (US$314.55) owed to one of Lee's associates. The confrontation took place at around 2 a.m. in the spa, which had recently gone out of business and had rental studio apartments above it. It is unclear why this location was chosen for the meeting.
Local reports vary on the motive, with some suggesting the attack was due to the refusal to provide a zombie drug on credit rather than debt repayment. The investigation into the incident continues.
