Taipei: A tropical depression near Hainan, previously known as Typhoon Saudel, is anticipated to regain strength and transform back into a tropical storm by late Monday, as reported by the Central Weather Administration (CWA). However, the likelihood of a sea warning being issued for the waters surrounding Taiwan remains low.
According to Focus Taiwan, CWA forecaster Huang En-hung mentioned that Saudel is expected to reemerge as a weak tropical storm by late Monday or Tuesday morning. Despite its resurgence, the storm is projected to weaken again and move towards China's Guangdong Province, minimizing potential impacts on Taiwan.
Taiwan's upcoming weather conditions will likely be influenced more by an extended low-pressure area and the intensification of southwesterly winds. These factors are expected to bring significant rainfall to central, southern, and eastern regions of Taiwan on Tuesday and Thursday.
Huang advised residents in central, southern, and eastern Taiwan to prepare for heavy to extremely heavy rain on Tuesday, with the possibility of thunderstorms and increased localized precipitation in other parts of the island. Between Wednesday and Thursday, short showers or thundershowers are forecasted, with potential for localized heavy rains in the same regions.
Mountainous areas across Taiwan might experience heavy rain in the afternoons, particularly on Thursday, when the western half of Taiwan and Yilan County in the northeast could encounter short showers, thundershowers, and localized heavy rain.
Improved weather conditions are expected in southern Taiwan between Friday and Saturday, with a general subsiding of rain across the island by Sunday. Temperature forecasts indicate highs between 30 and 33 degrees Celsius, with northern regions potentially reaching 34 to 35 degrees. Meanwhile, persistent rain in southern Taiwan may keep temperatures between 27 and 28 degrees, as noted by Huang.
