Tropical Storm Usagi to Brush Past Southeastern Taiwan Over Weekend.

Taipei: Tropical Storm Usagi is projected to move into the Bashi Channel south of Taiwan on Thursday, before brushing past the southeastern part of the country sometime between Friday and Sunday. This information was provided by the Central Weather Administration (CWA). According to Focus Taiwan, as of 2 a.m. Wednesday, Usagi was situated 1,200 kilometers southeast of Cape Eluanbi, Taiwan's southernmost tip. It was moving west-northwest at a speed of 27 kilometers per hour, based on CWA data. The CWA anticipates that Usagi will gradually strengthen as it transitions into the Bashi Channel on Thursday. From Friday to Sunday, Usagi is expected to become either a strong tropical storm or a typhoon as it progresses north into waters off the coast of southeastern Taiwan, as per CWA forecasts. During this period, scattered rain showers are predicted for eastern Taiwan and the Hengchun Peninsula in the south. Additionally, brief, isolated rain showers are anticipated in the north and south, as well as in mountaino us areas of central Taiwan. Other regions are expected to experience mostly cloudy conditions. The CWA mentioned that a sea warning for Usagi might be issued on Thursday, although there remains significant uncertainty about the storm's path to determine if a land warning will be necessary. In addition to Usagi, there are currently two other tropical storms in the Western Pacific, namely Toraji and Man-yi, though neither is expected to directly affect Taiwan's weather, according to the CWA. .
