Two Durian Vendors Killed in Shooting In Yala Province

No less than 10 assailants walked into a durian vendor's shop and shot and killed two people in Yala Province. One of the assailants was found to be from another area. Officials are investigating. Today, August 21, 2024 at approximately 9:20 p.m., Pol. Lt. Prachya Heuthakha, Investigation Officer, Bannang Sata Police Station, Yala Province, was notified that there was a shooting incident at a durian stall in front of the graveyard (cemetery) of Ban Sai Kaew, Village No. 3, Taling Chan Subdistrict, Bannang Sata District, Yala Province, resulting in 2 fatalities at the scene (names and addresses still unknown). From initial inquiries, it was found that there were approximately 10 perpetrators who walked from the Khao Namtok trail in the area. When they arrived at the durian purchasing stall, they called out to the two male owners and used an unknown type and caliber of gun to shoot them in a series of shots, causing both of them to die instantly. The perpetrators then fled back along the same route. Before fleeing, they also placed a suspicious object near the deceased's car. From the initial investigation, the two deceased were durian buyers from outside the area, one named Mr. Prakit Klomsa-at, 55 years old, from Chanthaburi Province, and Mr. Muelee Mani, 67 years old, from Yala Province. Initially, the officers and the Village Security Force (VSF) blocked off the scene within 200 meters to wait for the bomb disposal unit and the Forensic Science Unit 10 in Yala to thoroughly inspect the scene tomorrow, as they were concerned that the perpetrators might deceive the officers who were going to inspect the scene and then commit the same crime again.
