Two water park victims to receive treatment in U.S.

Taipei--A burn center in New Taipei has said that it will arrange for two patients seriously burned in a water park explosion to travel to the United States for surgery.

Lin Yun Yi (???), director of the Burn Rehabilitation Center at New Taipei city Hospital, Banqiao branch, said the two patients will travel to Shriners Hospitals for Children-Galveston in Texas for rehabilitative treatment.

His words came on the eve of the second anniversary of the incident, which took place at Formosa Fun Coast Water Park (????) in New Taipei's Bali District on June 27, 2015, when color powder fired into the air for festive effect exploded, killing 15 people and injuring 484 others.

The incident resulted in the most single-incident injuries ever in Taiwan.

According to New Taipei City government, the number of people who were injured and require continued rehabilitation has fallen from 440 to 102, with many recovering well.

The city government expressed the hope that the center will continue to care for those injured in the incident and to do everything possible to ensure they return to a normal life as soon as possible.
