Typhoon Dolphin May Bring Heavy Rain to Northern Taiwan Next Week: CWA

Taipei: Typhoon Dolphin could bring heavy rain to northern Taiwan later next week if it tracks closer to the island after passing the Ryukyu Islands, the Central Weather Administration (CWA) said Sunday. The CWA has outlined potential scenarios for the storm's path, which include passing north of Taiwan or curving toward the Korean Peninsula, contingent on the behavior of the Pacific high-pressure system currently located over the East China Sea and Taiwan. According to Focus Taiwan, the forecast models agree that Typhoon Dolphin will head toward the Ryukyu Islands through next Thursday, though its trajectory afterward remains uncertain. CWA forecaster Liu Pei-teng indicated that it is still too early to determine the issuance of a sea warning for Taiwan. Liu also mentioned a tropical depression east of the Philippines that might strengthen into Typhoon Kujira but is anticipated to weaken by Tuesday, with its moisture likely being absorbed by Typhoon Dolphin. Before the potential impact of Typhoon Dolphin l ater in the week, Taiwan is expected to experience typical summer weather with hot conditions and isolated afternoon thunderstorms through Tuesday. Starting later Tuesday, moisture levels are predicted to increase, and Dolphin's outer circulation could begin affecting Taiwan by Friday. The CWA has provisionally forecast localized heavy rain in northern Taiwan and the central mountainous regions on Saturday and Sunday, with the possibility of torrential rain in northern mountain areas. As the situation develops, residents in these areas are advised to stay informed and prepared for possible weather changes.
