Taipei--The weather in Taiwan will be stable on Sunday as northeasterly winds weaken, with most areas to enjoy sunshine, but mountainous areas will be prone to afternoon thundershowers, the Central Weather Bureau (CWB) forecast.
With weak northeasterly winds, there will be merely sporadic and short rainfalls in the northern and eastern areas. Mountainous areas, however, will be prone to thundershowers in the afternoon because of heat convection, the CWB predicted, advising people to be aware of their safety while hiking in the mountains.
In terms of temperatures, the highs will reach 27-29 degrees Celsius on Sunday in the north and east, and 30 degrees in the central and southern areas, the weather bureau forecast.
The warm and humid weather is expected to last until this weekend, with the temperatures possibly reaching as high as 33-35 degrees in the southern areas, the bureau said.
