Yoon’s upcoming visit to Czech Republic to mark ‘new chapter’ in Seoul-Prague ties: Czech FM

President Yoon Suk Yeol's upcoming visit to the Czech Republic will mark another "new chapter" in the bilateral relations with South Korea as the two countries are deepening cooperation in investment and other areas, the top Czech diplomat said Monday. Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavsky made the remark at the start of his talks with his South Korean counterpart, Cho Tae-yul, as Yoon is expected to make a trip to the Central European nation later this month. "The visit will provide an important kick start to the new chapter in the Czech-Korean relations," Lipavsky said in his opening remarks. (Yonhap) Lipavsky was in Seoul this week to meet with South Korean officials and attend the multilateral forum on responsible artificial intelligence in the military domain. Lipavsky said the recent decision by the Czech government to select a South Korean consortium as the preferred bidder for its major nuclear power plant project was a "landmark moment" in the two countries' bilateral relations. Echoing his remark, Cho noted that the deal represents a "leap into a deeper and stronger" partnership with Czechia and South Korea hopes to produce more outcomes in other fields of cooperation, from technology, energy and people-to-people exchanges, to trade and investment. Lipavsky said his country offers an attractive market for Korean companies and expressed hope for more investment coming from South Korea, its fourth-largest foreign investor, in areas like semiconductors and hydrogen.
