National Taichung Theater Evacuated After Bomb Threat

Taichung: Taichung police have cleared the National Taichung Theater as safe after the venue received a bomb threat on Friday.

According to Focus Taiwan, the Taichung Police Department's Sixth Precinct reported that it received a bomb threat forwarded from the city's 1999 hotline in the afternoon. The threat claimed that 10 plastic bombs had been planted in the theater.

Authorities conducted a preliminary investigation and discovered that the IP addresses linked to the threatening messages originated from overseas. This information has prompted police to cross-check the current case with previous threats made against the theater, government agencies, and other institutions. The case has been forwarded to prosecutors for further investigation.

In response to the threat, police have increased their presence in the area, deploying additional officers to ensure safety and enhance patrols. The city government's police corps has been mobilized to strengthen security around municipal facilities. Authorities are also monitoring suspicious individuals, activities, and objects to prevent any potential security incidents.
