Taipei: A sedan flipped over after colliding with a tour bus in Taipei's Songshan District around noon on Saturday, leaving two people in the smaller vehicle dead, according to local police and the fire department.
According to Focus Taiwan, the Taipei City Fire Department reported receiving a call about the traffic incident at approximately 11 a.m. Upon arriving at Fuyuan Street, authorities found that a sedan had collided with a tour bus, causing the car to overturn and sustain severe damage.
Two individuals, a 40-year-old male driver and his 65-year-old mother, were trapped in the overturned car. Firefighters rescued them, but both were in out-of-hospital cardiac arrest when taken to a hospital.
Despite efforts to resuscitate, the mother and son were later pronounced dead at the hospital. The tour bus driver remained uninjured, and there were no passengers on the bus at the time of the incident, as stated by the fire department.
The Songshan Precinct of the police department indicated that the sedan had suddenly veered from the inner lane to the outer lane for unknown reasons while driving south on Fuyuan Street. It struck the left side of the tour bus, which was parked on the roadside and about to pull out.
The impact caused the sedan to overturn. Police noted that the exact cause of the crash remains under investigation.
