Treasury hopes to transfer 10,000 baht to increase purchasing power

The Treasury hopes to transfer 10,000 baht to 14.5 million vulnerable people, distributing it to the economic sector, increasing purchasing power in every province. The Northeast region received the most money, 5.8 million people. Mr. Pornchai Thiravet, Director-General of the Fiscal Policy Office, revealed that the economic stimulus project in 2024 will transfer 10,000 baht through welfare cardholders and 14.55 million disabled persons, totaling 145 billion baht, between 25-27 and 30 September 2024. The money transferred to those eligible will be distributed to various economic sectors, helping to ease the cost of living burden from the economic slowdown and stimulating the economy nationwide at the same time. The Ministry of Finance found that the region with the highest number of eligible recipients was the Northeast, receiving 5.8 million people, followed by the North with 3.3 million people, the South with 2.2 million people, while Bangkok and its vicinity received 1 million people, the West with 750, 000 people, the East with 730,000 people, and the Central with 620,000 people. The top 5 provinces with the highest number of eligible recipients were Nakhon Ratchasima (540,000 people), Ubon Ratchathani (440,000 people), Sisaket (400,000 people), Chiang Mai (390,000 people), and Buriram (370,000 people). The top 5 provinces with the lowest number of eligible recipients were Ranong (27,000 people), Phuket (28,000 people), Trat (31,000 people), Samut Songkhram (33,000 people), and Phang Nga (42,000 people). When considering data at the sub-district level, it was found that the said amount of money was distributed to all eligible sub-districts throughout the country, especially in the Northeast, the North, the South, and in Bangkok. These areas have a large number of welfare cardholders and disabled people, reflecting that economic stimulus has given importance to growth from the grassroots economy through vulnerable groups.
