Taipei: Wistron Corp., a prominent AI server manufacturer from Taiwan, has inaugurated its D1 AI smart manufacturing facility in Fort Worth, Texas. This facility marks the commencement of mass production of one of Nvidia's cutting-edge artificial intelligence systems. According to Focus Taiwan, Wistron Chairman Simon Lin emphasized during the opening ceremony that the future of the AI industry will be driven by a global network rather than a singular production base. Lin highlighted that Wistron strategically positioned itself at the epicenter of technology to foster growth alongside its partners. The Fort Worth facility is set to be the first in the United States to mass-produce Nvidia's GB300 Grace Blackwell Ultra Superchip, with plans to manufacture the Vera Rubin Superchip as well. The new plant boasts an automation rate of approximately 60 percent, as stated by the company. Lin mentioned that the D1 facility is merely the beginning of Wistron's expansion efforts, with plans underway for a second, large r facility named D2. This expansion will include the development of a local supply chain, encompassing everything from chips to entire systems. The opening ceremony was also attended by Alexander Yui, Taiwan's representative to the United States, Nvidia founder and CEO Jensen Huang, and Jessica Rogers, director of the Economic Development Department for the City of Fort Worth. The D1 facility, Wistron's first manufacturing base in the U.S., was constructed with an investment of US$700 million and covers approximately 30,100 square meters. Wistron President and CEO Jeff Lin informed reporters that the company acquired the D1 plant in April 2025, with mass production set to commence in July 2026 to meet growing customer demand.
