Taipei Mayoral Candidates Intensify Campaign Efforts with Kaohsiung Support

Taipei:Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an's campaign encouraged supporters to participate in a march and rally on November 14, while his opponent, Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) candidate Puma Shen, conducted a motorcade through two districts of Taipei.

According to Focus Taiwan, the Taipei mayoral candidates also supported their respective parties' candidates at separate rallies in Kaohsiung. Chiang attended in person, while Shen shared a prerecorded video, all in preparation for the upcoming local elections on November 28.

Chiang's Kuomintang (KMT) campaign revealed a poster featuring the character "an" (安) from his name to signify reassurance and stability. The march, announced earlier, is set to begin at 230 p.m. from two locations Chiang's campaign headquarters on Nanjing East Road and Daan Park, eventually converging at Taipei City Hall for a rally.

KMT Legislator Lee Yen-shiu, responsible for organizing Chiang's campaign, mentioned that the mayor would join supporters on one of the routes. Meanwhile, Sports Minister Lee Yang participated in Shen's motorcade, which started from the LOHAS Park extension in Neihu. Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim was scheduled to speak at Dahu Park, the motorcade's final stop.

In Kaohsiung's Cishan District, Chiang stood alongside KMT mayoral candidate Ko Chih-en, advocating for stronger cooperation between Taipei and Kaohsiung. Taiwan People's Party Chairman Huang Kuo-chang also expressed support for Ko. Ko addressed concerns about resource distribution since the merger of Kaohsiung City and County, promising to establish an office to tackle these issues within her first month if elected.

At the DPP rally in Gangshan District, President Lai Ching-te and Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chi-mai showed their support for candidate Lai Jui-lung. Shen, in his video message, urged attendees to motivate their Taipei friends to vote for him, aiming for DPP victories in both cities.
