Taipei: Taiwan Railway Corp. (TR) announced that services between Douliu, Yunlin County, and Tainan have been suspended due to debris and signal malfunctions caused by Typhoon Danas.
According to Focus Taiwan, as winds and rain intensified after Danas made landfall in Chiayi County early Monday, large amounts of debris were blown onto the tracks between Douliu and Tainan, damaging signal equipment. Trains with reserved seating on the Western Main Line were suspended before noon Monday but are expected to gradually resume service later that afternoon.
Currently, trains with reserved seating on the North Link Line (Shulin-Hualien) continue to operate normally, although adjustments will be made depending on wind and rain conditions.
According to Central Weather Administration data, Danas, which was downgraded to a tropical storm at around 5 a.m. Monday, was 130 kilometers north of Taipei at 11 a.m., moving northwest and away from Taiwan.
