Taiwan Tigerair to Launch Tainan-Japan Routes in December

Tainan: Taiwan Tigerair is set to introduce new flight routes connecting Tainan to Japan's Kumamoto and Okinawa prefectures by the end of December, as announced by the Tainan City Government on Wednesday. The airline will operate two flights per week on each route, marking a significant step in Tainan's international tourism strategy.

According to Tainan City Government, the Tainan-Kumamoto route will commence on December 23, with services available on Tuesdays and Fridays. The Tainan-Okinawa route will follow, beginning on December 25, and will operate on Thursdays and Sundays. Specific flight schedules are yet to be released.

The Tainan Tourism Bureau highlighted the appeal of Tainan, Kumamoto, and Okinawa as prime tourist destinations, drawing attention to their shared historical, cultural, and culinary ties, as well as regional exchanges. The bureau also noted that both Tainan and Kumamoto host Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) sites, and that Tainan and Okinawa have a shared maritime heritage influenced by sea trade.
