Taipei: Former President Tsai Ing-wen is currently visiting Japan on what her office has described as a personal trip. The office declined to provide additional details about the nature or purpose of her visit, emphasizing that it is not an official state matter.
According to Focus Taiwan, Tsai's office released a brief statement confirming the trip, stating, "[This is a] personal trip by the president, with no official schedule planned," and thus, no further information about the visit will be disclosed. This statement was in response to inquiries from reporters eager to learn more about her visit to Japan.
This marks Tsai Ing-wen's third overseas journey since she concluded her term in May 2024. Her previous international travels have included a visit to several European countries. In October 2024, Tsai embarked on a tour to Czechia, France, and Belgium. Earlier, in May, she traveled to Lithuania and Denmark and continued on to the United Kingdom. These trips highlight her continued engagement with international communities even after leaving office.
