Taipei: Two women died Monday after they were allegedly stabbed multiple times by one of the women's husband while on a scooter in New Taipei earlier in the day. The incident happened on Section 2 of Mingde Road in Tucheng District at around 11 a.m. when they were suddenly attacked by a man who had tailed them in a car, police said.
According to Focus Taiwan, emergency responders who arrived at the scene found the two without signs of life, and they were later pronounced dead at a hospital after they could not be resuscitated. The suspect, identified by his last name Hsieh, was subsequently arrested by law enforcement authorities in Changhua County at 1:25 p.m.
Based on the preliminary findings of an investigation, the victims were found to be sisters, one of whom was Hsieh's wife, police said without providing further details, including why Hsieh was tailing them. Hsieh is currently being questioned by police, and once the questioning has concluded the case will be handed over to prosecutors to investigate whether Hsieh should be prosecuted on murder charges, the police said.
